MemoBell privacy policy
Last updated 1 November 2026
This policy explains how the MemoBell Chrome extension (“the extension”), published by xtended (“we”, “us”), handles information. The extension replaces your new tab page with a workspace for tasks, reminders and notes.
Summary
- Your tasks, notes and activity log stay in your browser. We have no servers for this extension and never receive them.
- No account is needed.
- Google Drive backup is optional. If you turn it on, backups go to your own Google Drive, not to us.
- We don't sell data, show ads, or use analytics or tracking.
Data stored in your browser
The extension stores what you enter, including tasks, reminders, notes, tags, images you add to notes and your activity log, in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). It also stores your settings there and in the browser's extension storage. Reminder notifications are created on your device.
Optional Google Drive backup
If you connect Google Drive in Settings, the extension asks Google for permission to use the drive.file scope, which covers only files the extension created. It then saves copies of your tasks, notes, activity log and settings as files in a memobell folder in your Drive, and reads them back when you restore a backup.
It also reads your Google account's email address and display name to show which account is connected. This information and your backups pass directly between your browser and Google. They never reach us, and Google handles them under Google's privacy policy.
Content you embed in notes
If you embed a website or video in a note, such as a Vimeo, Loom, CodePen or Figma link, your browser loads it directly from that site whenever the note is shown. That site may receive your IP address and other standard request information under its own privacy policy. The extension doesn't contact these sites unless you add an embed.
Website access
The extension doesn't read or change the websites you visit, and it doesn't collect your browsing history. It uses the tabs permission only to find, focus or open its own page and to open the side panel in your current window.
How we use information
Information is used only on your device, and with Google if you turn on backup, to provide the extension's single purpose: managing your tasks, reminders and notes. We don't use it for advertising, profiling, or creditworthiness or lending decisions, and we don't sell or transfer it to third parties.
Our use of information received through Chrome extension APIs follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Retention and deletion
Data in your browser stays there until you delete it, clear your browser data or uninstall the extension. Uninstalling removes it from your browser.
The extension keeps your latest 30 Drive backups and deletes older ones. Disconnecting Drive in Settings stops backups and revokes the extension's access, but existing backups stay in your Drive until you delete them there.
Security
Communication with Google uses HTTPS. Data stored in your browser is protected by your browser and device, so keep your device secure.
